Quick help. Most issues are about permissions. Soren needs Screen Time access to block apps, and Apple Health + Motion access to build your score and detect sleep. You can review these any time in the iOS Settings app.

About the app

What is the Soren Score?

It’s one daily number, 0-100, for how sharp your mind is set up to be. Soren weighs three pillars - your focus (40%), your sleep (35%) and your physical recovery (25%, from the movement, exercise and heart data in Apple Health). It’s computed on your iPhone and updates through the day.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Soren detects your sleep from your iPhone’s motion and step data, with no wearable required, and reads movement from Apple Health. If you do have an Apple Watch, signals like heart-rate variability and resting heart rate make the physical part of your score richer - but the app works without one.

Is my data private?

Yes - this is the point. Soren runs entirely on your device. There’s no account and no server we control; your health data, focus history and score never leave your iPhone. Detected sleep is written only to your own Apple Health. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

How does the lock-in (blocking) work?

You pick the apps and sites that pull you, and Soren blocks them at the system level during your scheduled hours or a lock-in session - they won’t open. Finish the focus to earn the break. There’s no pause, skip, or early exit mid-cycle; that’s what makes it hold.

Troubleshooting

My apps aren’t blocking

  • Make sure you granted Screen Time access when asked. Check Settings → Screen Time and re-open Soren.
  • Confirm you’ve selected apps/sites to block and that a schedule or session is active.
  • App blocking does not work in the iOS Simulator and requires a real device - which won’t affect you as a user, but is worth knowing if you tested elsewhere.

My sleep or score looks wrong or empty

  • Open Soren in the morning - sleep detection runs when you open the app, and the score recomputes on launch.
  • Check that Soren can read Health in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Soren, and Motion in → Motion & Fitness.
  • Recovery signals (HRV, resting heart rate) need history to form a baseline - give it about a week, or pair an Apple Watch for faster, richer data.

Subscriptions & data

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions, choose Soren, and change or cancel there. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

How do I change what Soren can access, or delete my data?

  • Health: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Soren.
  • Motion: Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness.
  • Blocking: Settings → Screen Time.
  • Delete everything: remove the Soren app to erase its on-device data. Sleep written to Apple Health can be deleted in the Health app.

Requirements

Soren runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
